Small Shop Display Tweaks
- Adjusted the shop item cards very slightly to fit more of them on medium and large screens, and tweaked the padding around the images a small amount to show larger pictures. - Added a breadcrumb nav to the top of shops. - Fixed kinship folder display if there were no kinships.
-
2.5 October 10, 2024
New JSON functionality, bug fixes, inventory weight tracking.
- We have changed the Download JSON button on the Campaign Info screen into a link that will take you to a page of JSON Download Options for your campaign. This allows you to download only the sections you want, which should greatly help in reducing the download times for large campaigns. We also included a link on that page to an online JSON file viewer. Please note, these JSON files are for your own personal backup only. They do not upload or seed into Chronica.
- Fixed a bug in Calendars that would throw an error screen if a Month associated with a Season was deleted. There is now a warning noting that by deleting a month associated with a Season, that Season is also deleted, as Seasons require a month to be functional.
- Added a small addition to Encounter character stat update bubbles to pull up the number pad on mobile devices. This is still being tested slightly, and may be adjusted if causing issues.
- Fixed a small typo in the Encounters table view.
- Added a small Weight display chip on Containers within the Party and Player inventory. This assumes you are using the same method of weight for all items within a single container (Ex. 1lb, 0.2lbs, 15). It ignores text and adds any number multiplied by the quantity. If the value is 0, the weight display will be hidden. We are seeing how this is received first before expanding any further on the functionality. Items outside of any container are not calculated at this time.
- Added compact view for Player Codex -

Various UI Updates
- Re-added Encounters table view! You can now select "card" or "table" view from that screen and it will remember your last chosen setting automatically. We also added paging to the table to help load times, but you can click "View All to Sort" if you need to see the full list to sort. If you have folders, the folder column will display (or stay hidden if you don't!), and you can also filter by folder here.
- Fixed a small bug in Place > Edit that was improperly displaying the name of the place in the breadcrumb.
- Added a breadcrumb to character profiles, shifting the folder link into there instead, and fixed a bug where the folder links were not working on NPC profiles.
- Added a table view to NPC Codex.
- Added search to Places.
- Added a setting to Kinships to allow you to hide the Vault and the Ranks panels on the profile pages. As many users utilize Kinships to track things like religions, deities, or even races, this should help clean up those profiles.
- Fixed a bug on Player Wealth Logs that was showing other players' log information.
- Fixed a bug on Places profiles where the character and encounter counters were not functioning correctly. -
2.3.1 September 03, 2024
Hotfixes
- Fixed a bug that was preventing Encounters from saving their sort order.
- Fixed a bug preventing you from cycling through previous calendar months on Events and Attendances.
- Fixed an error screen when trying to view published adventure notes.
- The player-specific theme setter now seems to be working with the redeploy. -
2.3.0 September 02, 2024
Adding more search, fixing bugs, a few other small features.
- Updated the Search on Adventure Notes to our new and improved search and filter. This button can now be found on the main Adventure Notes page in the top bar, where the previous search box was.
- Updated the Search on Developments to our new and improved search and filter. This button can now be found on the main Developments in the top bar.
- Added Search and paging to Events and cleaned up some of the code for future updates.
- Added Search to Kinships, and added a breadcrumb nav to the top of Kinship profiles.
- Shifted Encounters away from the old table into a card layout like most of the rest of Chronica. Added folders and search for organization. Added a breadcrumb nav to the top once inside an Encounter.
- Added a tiny indicator on Player Dashboard of your owned shops being "Open" or "Closed".
- Added a "Back to Development" on the Development edit screen for quicker navigation back to __that__ specific object.
- Updated the Player Wealth logs to work with the search and filter.
- Added a player setting allowing players to individually override the Campaign theme if they have a preference for visibility and usability.
- Added a folder indicator to Entity and Character profiles with a link back to that folder for usability.
- Fixed a bug that would lead to a 500 error when adding a Character to a Kinship under a certain Rank when the character or kinship wasn't found. The error should now denote what happened.
- Fixed a bug on the Integrated Files screen when trying to remove a file from a CharacterImage. As the gallery images require an image file to be viable, you can no longer remove them from that screen and need to delete the entire object instead.
- Added a min and max to the Map tile size form entry, as users were entering wildly large numbers which were giving a performance hit.
- Fixed a bug that would give a 500 error if you tried to sort weekdays within a new Calendar before the calendar was created.
- Fixed a bug that was blocking the dropdown from loading on Encounter loot tables when utilizing the multi-select to move items. -
2.2.3 August 21, 2024
Quick Fixes
// Fixed a bug that was causing an unlimited redirect on the "Subscription Error" page, which only occurred if a charge could not be processed on your campaign.
// Fixed an error that occasionally showed Places marked secret if they were nested within a Place not marked secret.
// Fixed a small aesthetic error on Nebula theme for the mobile menu button.
// Made a couple small backend security updates. -
2.2.2 July 07, 2024
Additional Bug Fixes
- Fixed a CSS issue on Firefox that was preventing some column layout elements from properly loading.
- Fixed a 500 error when trying to upload an unsupported image type such as a webp into: Inventory Items, Containers, Kinship Ranks.
- Fixed a 500 error on Entities on both the Unsorted and View Folder pages when you had 0 Entities within your campaign.
- Added better error handling for the rare instance where session cookies were blocked or deleted and your current campaign could not be loaded without a refresh.
- Added a maximum value to the "recurring every" field in Developments, as the form would error out with wildly large numbers.
- Added better error handling when trying to view an Adventure Notes folder you do not have access to.
- Added a redirect to our subscription error page to check if the error has been resolved, taking you back to your campaign.
- Added better error handling to prevent submitting the Plot construction form on Domains/Regions if you have not yet selected a Plot.
- Relocated the JS that fires the Transfer Item dropdown which should increase performance of that filter triggering the dropdown update. -
2.2.1 June 11, 2024

// Fixed bug preventing Item Library page from loading if the library was not yet created by the GM.
// Fixed a bug preventing QuestKeeper admins from creating or editing a quest.
// Fixed a bug preventing the Quest "Place Write In" field from saving.
// Fixed a bug with the Quest Ancestry box displaying "Quest Hidden" even as a GM. -
2.2.0 June 10, 2024
Quest Log Feature Update, Bug Fixes, Small Design Tweaks
// We have increased the player limit on Deity tier campaigns all the way up to 500. We have noted a few large West Marches or similar style campaigns, as well as some user-driven Templates that were approaching the 100 limit, and feel at that top tier that player limit should not prevent usability. Enjoy!
// Fixed a bug in the Places accordion view preventing sub-levels of Places to expand.
// Fixed a bug that was preventing the Use and Sell buttons or tabs from displaying on Ownership inventory items.
// Fixed a bug preventing Kinship caches from properly showing on Player Dashboards in some cases.
// Fixed a bug occasionally preventing Dungeon Masters from seeing Player Characters that were marked both Private and "Controlled NPC".
// Cleaned up our help text across the site to a uniform look for usability. A tiny flag icon and faded text will denote that section is empty of content and will explain how to use it or how to get started.
// Cleaned up the Places views slightly and added an automatic player setting that will remember your last clicked view, using that each time Places is opened.
// Some small design adjustments for spacing, a couple slight color tweaks for legibility.
// Cleaned up some back-end processes in preparation for future updates.
// Updated the Campaign Shops search functionality allowing you to much more accurately search for that pesky item or even by shop name.
// Updated the Item Libary item search.
// Added a clickable link to Kinship images on their profile to view larger size.
// NEW: Super-updated our Quest Log feature to a new layout design and added features: connect additional Characters and Places to your quest, connect Encounters, add an image, add a Loot Inventory. -
2.1.2 April 16, 2024
Platform Updates and Bug Fixes
// A number of security and platform updates! Boring but needed. :)
// Fixed an error allowing Players to manage their own admin permissions.
// Fixed a display error that was creating layout issues for those who prefer larger screen text. If you find other accessibility issues, please let us know, we will mark them urgent!
// Fixed a display error correcting your KinshipRanks to pull the right default image if your KinshipRank had no image attached, and the corresponding Kinship used a Library image, instead of an uploaded one.
// Uploaded a good handful of NEW Kinship badges to our Image Library!
// Added an extra input box when deleting a campaign as a safeguard to confirm your decision.
// Fixed an error that prevented you from editing Entity Abilities if you had no folders in your Abilities Admin.
// Fixed the Item preview box on the New Item > Copy from Item Library panel which was not displaying the items correctly, nor auto-selecting the appropriate inventory to copy to.
// Replaced the search on the Player and NPC Codex that could be finicky changing the page on each Keyup versus waiting for the submit. We will be getting all of the Keyup searches replaced at some point.
// Fixed a bug that was showing Developments marked Private on the calendar, and added the Private icon to the calendar Development buttons and modal to denote they are private.
// Added a small banner warning to the full-screen text editor denoting how to exit full screen, as the Escape key does not do so. -
2.1.1 February 12, 2024
Needed Bug Fixes
// Fixed an error that was not allowing campaigns to download their JSON files caused by the last patch.
// Fixed some CSS style issues in the Nebula and Blacklight theme, specifically while editing abilities on characters and entities and mass-assigning profile templates.
// Fixed a bug where the item card checkboxes would not work to mass-move or delete if the inventory had no containers.
// Fixed a bug on the Developments where if you ran into a form error, it would throw a 500 error instead of the form with the error message.
// Moved the "Use Item" functionality from a tab that was taking up valuable space to the top button bar. The button should not be appearing properly where the tab was not as well.
// Fixed a bug that would throw a 500 error when updating Character Abilities without any Ability Type Folders present.
// Fixed a bug on Entities Manage Folders where the links to open the folder would throw a 500 error instead of linking to the folder. -
2.1.0 December 06, 2023
Updated Stats, Abilities, Cities!
// We have RENAMED "Cities & Districts" to "Domains & Regions". City Staff, City Stats, and City Updates have been renamed to Domain Personnel, Domain Stats, and Domain Updates. Old cities and districts should all appropriately redirect.
// Added new wall types to our Regions (previously Districts): bridge, metal, space, and wall-wooden.
// We have RENAMED "Character Stat Types and Character Stats" to "Stat Groups and Stats" as we build a foundation to pull all campaign stats into a single admin. This can now be found in the left nav under Stat Groups & Stats. NOTE: This new admin currently houses only stats for Characters and Entities. Your Kinship and Domain stats will be moved for you soon, but are still found in the left navigation for now.
// All Stat Groups (previously CharacterStatTypes) that were marked "Secret" are still marked Secret. However, now these are no longer visible to players in any form. (As Secret SHOULD be!) We have added a NEW setting of "Private" to allow players to see their own character's stats privately. This change should have been implemented with the original release, and we apologize for the confusion. "Secret" should never be visible to players. NOTE: Stats marked Private on NPCs will also be hidden from players (as Private is only visible if you are the owner), so you can utilize the same stat groups across NPCs and PCs.
// Abilities Admin has been updated to the new layout similar to Stat Groups. The Character "Edit Abilities" screen has been vastly overhauled for usability.
// Added "Private" setting to Ability Types, similar to Stat Groups above. Secret will now always be secret, and Private will be hidden from everyone but the DM and owner.
// Recordkeeper admin has been renamed to CharacterCodexer, and adjusted to now only cover the NPC Codex. All players previously with this admin still have this admin.
// Cityplanner admin has been renamed to DomainPlanner to match the new wording.
// NEW Admin: QuestKeeper: can create and edit public quests. (Quests were removed from Recordkeeper.)
// NEW Admin: StatManager: can create and access the Stat Admin and Abilities. (Stats were removed from Recordkeeper.)
// Fixed a few instances across the site where the Recordkeeper admin was being called instead of KinshipKeeper.
// Small fix to display the Manage Images button on character profiles as long as you are a DM. This was always intended.
// Small style fix to avoid odd radio button stat label alignment on Character profiles.
// Fixed a bug that was clearing Tags on Abilities if you cloned them to another campaign.
// Added a small snippet of Activity Log at the bottom of Character profiles (visible only to DMs). We plan to add these across Chronica to allow you quick access to the recent activity for items. -
2.0.7 July 31, 2023
Bug fixes, Tweaks, and Kinships reputations
// Fixed a bug on the Regional Maps where even with the "Disable Color Overlay" turned on, it would still show the color overlays if a specific color was selected.
// Fixed a small display issue when viewing tile information on Regional Maps.
// Adjusted some display issues on the Inventory quick-add items modal on mobile.
// In Character Abilities admin, if a player has the admin privileges to see this page, they will no longer see Tags that are strictly found in Abilities whose Type is marked Secret, only tags found in viewable Abilities.
// In addition to the above, fixed a bug where players with Character Abilities admin could click a tag and view secret abilities. These are now properly hidden.
// Added small clickable icons on Developments for characters, places, and quests within that development, allowing you to view that object's profile directly, as well as filter by that object.
// Added direct links on Developments, so you can view the direct page, and also link to them if needed.
// Clarified some points on the Currency admin page and added error checking preventing the same value for multiple currencies within the same campaign.
// Fixed a display bug that was showing empty character stat boxes on Character and Entity profiles.
// The Duplicate NPC button now also duplicates associated Flair and Links with that character.
// Added a Duplicate button to Entities which will clone the single entity, including their stat data and selected abilities into a copy.
// Added search and filter to the Activity Log to make it easier to find entries you need.
// Kinship Ranks without individual images uploaded will now default to the Kinship image instead of a blank white one, preventing the need to upload the same image multiple times.
// NEW feature on Kinships allow you to toggle on Open Enrollment; which will show a blue "Join" button at the top, allowing players to add characters to kinships without waiting to be added by a GM. This will automatically place them at the lowest possible rank.
// NEW feature on Kinships allows you to track character Reputation. Toggle this on by editing your kinship, allowing members of the kinship to track a score. This can be renamed from the default Reputation to something like loyalty, renown, points, etc.
// Revamped our ads on the free tier campaigns. We dropped Google targeted ads entirely, finding them invasive and difficult to code around. We now just have ONE standard banner ad across the very top. This allowed us to remove a good chunk of code and some wonky layout adjustments, it's really just cleaner all around, and gives us a lot more control about what we show up there. Interested in advertising on Chronica? Feel free to reach out to hello@chronica.ventures. We realize this may take some getting used to for folks, but it also opened up the horizontal spacing which was a big issue on some pages, and we are happy with it. -

-
2.0.2 May 31, 2023
Subscription Page Updates & Small Style Fixes
// Fixed the error / success messaging on our Payment Method and Subscription pages. These should finally be more clear on when your form was submitted or not submitted. We also added a button you can click for when your subscription gets stuck in non-payment, you can click and reset it to Peasant tier to clear the error without emailing support!
// Fixed a few dropdown menus that were missed in the front-end update.
// Updated the Kinship wealth box to the new style used in party and player wealth. -
2.0.1 May 30, 2023
Minor Hotfixes
// Fixed a 500 error when editing a shop as a non-GM.
// Fixed an error that was blocking the transfer item dropdown from updating for "All Player Inventories" filter.
// Fixed the broken dropdown selector in the Item Library when transferring a container. -
2.0.0 May 29, 2023
New server, updated back-end, updated front-end, additional notes!
// We have completely shifted our hosting to a new server that will allow easier and quicker scaling and service. PLEASE let us know if you have any issues. This was a huge move. We have also updated a lot of our back-end and front-end to provide a smoother experience.
// Added a new image library for Places! Now you can select from a nice range of quality scenic, civilized, or indoor images for your Places, and make adding content even more convenient. We are adding more to the all image libraries as we have time! More coming very soon.
// Added a new script to hopefully address all the Mobile touch-drag issues. Things should be drag-and-droppable now, where appropriate. Please let us know if you spot any mobile issues after this.
// Updated our lightbox (image previews) to the newest version, style has changed slightly, but should work all the same!
// We removed our old buggy Friendship module and recoded it from scratch. It's still fairly simple in terms of functionality, but at least works! We hope to explore what we can do with this more in the future, but for now it at least makes adding your buddies to campaigns simpler.
// You can now hide links in the left navigation within your campaign. This can be done by the GM under Campaign Settings, and is useful if there are features within a campaign that you do not use and do not want to see.
// Overall cleanup of Inventory/Shop/Cache back-end with some style adjustments to the Item cards for less wasted whitespace.
// Hid "Sold Out" sign on items that are marked "Not for Sale", even if their quantity is 0.
// You can now transfer items, even if the quantity is 0. It simply transfers the empty item. We felt the previous limitation was unnecessary.
// We condensed the "inventory" and "shop" versions of the Item Tags into a single list, giving access to all those tags, regardless of inventory type.
// You are no longer required to assign a Kinship owner in order to have a cache. We felt the previous limitation was unnecessary.
// Kinship caches now have access to the Stockroom feature, because, why not?
// Changed the wealth log inputs from text_fields to number_fields, as they should have been all along.
// We removed the slight limitation of Personal Secrets only being on Player-owned characters. This box is still private only to the owner (or GM, if an NPC), but we had instances where the PC turned into an NPC and those personal secrets were lost from the profile display. The limitation was unnecessary.
