8.4 When a Character Changes Owner
An ownership is linked to a character and to a player. What happens to it depends on what happens to the character.
| What happens | What happens to the ownership |
|---|---|
| The character is given to another player (its Player Owner is changed) | The ownership moves with the character, with all its items, wealth and resources. The new player now controls them. |
| The character is no longer assigned to any player | The ownership stays with you, under Unassigned Ownerships (see 8.2). |
| The character is deleted | The ownership is deleted too, with its inventory, items, wealth and resources. |
| You leave the campaign, or are removed | All your ownerships are deleted, with their inventories, items, wealth and resources. Your characters move to the NPC Codex. See 6.2. |
Before a character is given away or deleted, decide what should happen to its items and money. Move anything that should stay with you into your Player Inventory and your own wealth first.
Changing a character's Player Owner moves its ownership to the new player straight away. A Game Master can do this, and so can the player who owns the character. Nobody is asked first. If the old player should keep anything, move it before you change the owner.
