Your username and your avatar are how other people recognise you in Chronica. They are account-level, so they follow you into every campaign you join.
Choosing a username
Usernames can be up to 15 characters, and may contain letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores — no spaces or punctuation. They must be unique, and Chronica does not count capitalisation as a difference, so Rowan and rowan cannot both exist.
Your username matters more than it looks, because it is how friends find you. Chronica has no user directory and no search — the only way someone can send you a friend request is by typing your username exactly. If you change it, tell the people who might be looking for you.
Uploading an avatar
Under User Avatar, use Upload Image to choose a file, then save the page.
- Accepted formats: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif
- Maximum size: 2MB
- Avatars are always cropped square, so a square image works best — anything else gets trimmed from the sides.
Once saved, your avatar appears in the top bar, on your friends list, and beside your name across the app. To take it down again, tick Remove current image and save.
If you never upload one, Chronica gives you its default avatar. You will never see a broken image, and there is nothing you need to do.
